Kendall Bas is an award-winning London and Dubai-based scenographer, set and costume designer, and craftsman, whose practice operates at the intersection of tangible material craft and adaptive digital media. He was awarded Best in Set Design and Technical Direction for Makulimlim Na. Viewing performance space as a dynamic narrative participant rather than a static container, he draws on over a decade of professional experience across live theatre, ballet, opera, film, and large-scale aquatic circus spectacle—including serving as Resident Designer for Franco Dragone’s La Perle.

In his practice, digital media functions as an active architectural element that alters perception and expands narrative dimension. By merging projection, digital illumination, and interactive visual mechanics with physical stagecraft, Kendall blurs the threshold between the virtual and the material. Having recently completed his Master’s in Scenography at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he is an International Associate of the SBTD and a member of OISTAT.

 

He was also recently awarded a grant to undertake the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Creative Practice at Goldsmiths, University of London, further developing his research into AI, emerging technologies, and their potential within scenographic practice. He is dedicated to developing hybrid scenographic systems that reshape the relationship between performer, audience, space, and technology.
